Getting Organised Saves you Time and Stress

Being disorganised costs you time and money. Avoid being stressed and create more time by being more organised and planning ahead.

Here are a few tips to help you stay organised:

  • Buy two printer cartridges each time you make a purchase. That way you will never run out of ink.
  • Buy extra light globes, so you always have some spare. You will never be left in the dark again.
  • Stand over the rubbish bin when you open your mail and “bin” any junk mail. That way you are guaranteed never to have a buildup of junk mail on the kitchen bench again.
  • Put a hook at the door so you can hang your keys on it as soon as you walk in the house. You will never waste time searching for your lost keys.

Until next time, Happy Organising.

Lacking the Motivation to Declutter and Get Organized?

So often when my team and I meet with clients, we hear them say the same thing. “I just don’t know where to start”, or “I just don’t have the energy”, or “it is so over whelming, so I just close the door”.

What has taken months, possibly years to build up is not going to be cleared in a couple of hours or even a day. This is something that I always ask clients to think about. I find this helps put it into perspective. Equally though, you need to have some consistent strategies in place to help tackle the buildup of items.

Here are some key tips to help you get motivated, be organised and start decluttering:

  • Be consistent. You need to dedicate time each day to tackle the problem. Set a goal, it might only be 10 minutes a day, but set time aside every day and start decluttering.
  • Set a timer as your guide and don’t stop your decluttering until it goes off.
  • Think of a little reward that you can give yourself once you have finished the job. It might only be to have ten minutes off, or perhaps it’s having an uninterrupted coffee. Whatever it is, you can only have it once the decluttering is done.

Until next time, happy organising.

Declutter Under the Kitchen Sink

The cupboard under the kitchen sink is one of the most cluttered and messy spaces. A quick declutter of this space will have it looking organised and user friendly in a short time.

I was flicking through some old magazines and come across this from Howard Storage World, Summer 2010, Issue 4 and thought it was great. Hope you like it too.

Declutter and organise under the kitchen sink

Some quick tips on how to declutter, order and sort under the kitchen sink.

Here are my few tips for decluttering under your kitchen sink:

Step 1: Clear everything out from under the sink and clean the space.

Step 2: Sort through and throw out items that are out of date or you don’t use.

Step 3: Use baskets to group items together. Lift-out baskets are great as you can easily get to the items.

Step 4: Utilize as much space as you are able. 3M hooks are also great for sticking small wire baskets to the back of the doors to store things like cleaning cloths, dish cloths etc

Organize and Label It

How to Stay Organized

We love label makers. As professional organizers we love to label things. Labels help us organize and sort our space and make it so much easier to know where things should be put back.

If you have kids or other people who put items away in your house, it makes it easier for everyone to know where the items go. Best of all, there can be no more excuses from family members because they were not sure where to put things!

Here are some things you can label:

  •  Label your in tray
  •  Label your pantry food containers and the shelf where they belong
  •  Label your kids clothes
  •  Label your linen press, so you know where your flat, fitted, king and queen sheets should go.
  •  Label your warranty documents
  • Label your folders which contain all your paper work such as gas, electricity, water, phone bills.
  • Label your desk accessories.

Professional Organising Tip 1:

Always have some spare tape and batteries on hand. There is nothing worse than running out of tape or batteries when you are half way through a label.

Professional Organising Tip 2:

Buy a battery recharger and rechargeable batteries so you never run out!

Good luck with your labelling!
